The client wanted a stylish, functional and inviting semi-formal living room, casual living zone and study, all suitable for busy family living.

The existing semi-formal living room was transformed into a warm, contemporary space suitable for entertaining. Neutral tones and natural textures are juxtaposed by the rich, dark walnut veneer joinery which cleverly hides the required additional storage.

Warm finishes complement the existing travertine floor, including the deep kingfisher-blue rug, woven linen sofas and fresh contemporary artwork that all combine for a layered, comfortable and inviting feel.

In the office the hero is the grasscloth wallpaper that warmly frames the expansive walnut veneer joinery and solid ash upholstered fabric and leather armchair, providing comfort and ample room for its use as a home office.

Quote from the designer

“For this project I created spaces that were functional for everyday family living, yet smart and sophisticated so they are stunning spaces to also entertain guests in. I loved incorporating natural textures throughout as they really inspire a relaxed and inviting atmosphere. This is what Australian family living is all about, finding that balance between what’s practical and what’s beautiful.”
