A Private residence | Helsinki by Interior Architect Joanna Laajisto

Design Philosophy:

“Not clutter this world with unnecessary things but to find the hidden beauty of each space and to enhance it by creative solutions”.

This stunning apartment in Helsinki is elegant and moody yet open and inviting.

A dark palette sets a sophisticated tone for this Helsinki ‘Private Residence’ designed by Joanna Laajisto Creative Studio. The clever choice of dark timber veneer panels and floor to celling joinery creates a sense of scale to the apartment. The clean lines and minimalist approach leaves the home feeling light, open and inviting.

Despite the fact the colour palate is filled with rich tones, there is still plenty of moments of ‘light and shade’ the controlled depth is achieved by accents of creams, taupes and cement features. The tasteful and understated furniture responds perfectly to the environmental aesthetics and the functionality of each space.

The end result is ultimately a play on contrasts – moody and inviting, luxe and raw, but above all incredibly sophisticated.
