Mosman
This modern home and pool was built on Hawkesbury sandstone geology and features an exposed location on a steep, foreshore incline. Its grounds are uncommonly generous and the property is home to a rich mix of species ranging from full-sized palm trees to shrubs, indigenous to imported.
The garden was designed by Jane Coleman Landscape Architect Pty Ltd., with Joanne Green Landscape Design brought in to execute the plan. Cycads (Cycas revoluta), Cabbage Tree Palms (Livistona australis), Lady Palms (Rhapis excelsa), Frangipani (Plumeria acutifolia var. rubra), and Lily Turf (Liriope) were chosen to complement the existing Angophora trees and create greater texture.
Before work began, an existing 4m-tall Frangipani was removed from the site and stored intact before being craned back into the new courtyard garden. Together, with the newly imported Livistona Palms, these giants create a sheltered canopy that increases privacy to the home while the mix of native Australian and exotic plants produce a fresh, contemporary appearance.
